The Sioux City Reinvestment District is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a new, strategically located, 25-acre entertainment and cultural district, designed to transform the aesthetics of the City entryway, and contribute greatly to the economic growth and quality of life for the City and region.
Developed over the past two years, the District will capture $13.5 million in state hotel/motel and sales taxes and be built around four anchor destination projects that have grown to a total planned investment of over $134 million. These include:
The Siouxland Expo Center, an innovative new multi-purpose venue, designed to attract ag-related events and activities, add new recreational opportunities, provide unique spaces for large community events, and enhance the overall tourism appeal of the region by highlighting the rich agricultural heritage of Sioux City and the former stockyards.
An upgraded Convention Center complex with construction of an attached all-new 150-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, convention center upgrades, and a new parking deck, complementing the Historic Fourth Street District.
Virginia Square, the redevelopment of two historic industrial buildings, and construction of two additional buildings along Virginia Street into mixed-use retail, commercial, and market-rate residential uses, all located along the new Virginia Street entrance off I-29.
Redevelopment of the historic Warrior and Davidson buildings into a boutique hotel, commercial uses, and luxury apartments.
